- I've been studying at uni. ...not. I really should do some work but I keep making tunes and going out. Student life win. Oh and trying to get a job, but Colchester is not good for that apparently.
Okay. So, you got a EP coming out soon. Tell me more about that, I've heard it has a weird story to it.
- Yeah, finally! It's coming out on December 17th, it's got four tracks on it, including the unheard VIP of SPW. The story is odd actually; some guy - Cooper - stole my tunes and gave them to Stupid Fly as his work and they released them for him. Luckily, someone e-mailed me pointing this out, so I got right on it, talked to the label, and they dropped him and signed me.
What kinda dubstep are we gonna get on your upcoming EP? At least in my book, your up in the top list of filthy, simple and primitive dubstep!
On the EP is Unity - a big reverby epic track, SPW VIP a proper sludgy stompy tune, bit heavy, then there's Guerillas, which is a Skream-type tune, rolly, marchy, and finally Freefall which is a nice relaxing round track, still sounds mechanical though.
I even went nostalgic for a moment, and scrolled down on your channel on youtube and heard "The Muffin Man". I can honestly say that track is still delicious. Thanks for your time!
- No worries, take it easy. : )

First tune from I heard from Quartus Saul, and in my opinion it's his signature tune. Quartus Saul is a upcoming artist in what I like to call the "new wave of filth", along with Chrispy and Cyberoptix. His upcoming EP will be out in the end of the year, which I've been wanted to get my hands on since I heard his tunes for the first time.

I'm usually against EPs with 1 song and 2-3 remixes, but this one is very good. To be honest, usuall the remixes sound all the same but this is not the case here! Also, I wanted to have the full song but I could only find 2 minutes of this track, so I decided to take the whole EP.
Safe buy, at least for me.

Magnetic Man consists of Benga, Artwork and Skream. The opinion on them is very, very diverse. Some don't like it at all, some love it. Some says it isn't dubstep anymore, but since when has there been any rules for dubstep (except for 140bpm). But I'm having kinda mixed feelings about them. Definitely not my favorite "band" but I don't think that they're bad.

I've been waiting on some new Jelacee, and here it is. It's the first track on his upcoming album, which is released in 2011. He really has the ability to make both filthy and Burial type of tunes. This is definitely a Burial type of tune.
Big up Jelacee. Look out for the B.L.A.C.K album next year!

It's a long time since I've had a EP review. I met Whyrez at DSF, and checked out his music. "The Short Circuit EP is supposed to represent a journey from sanity through to insanity." Hmm, sounds good.
But now, lets chop it down into small pieces.
1. Short Circuit Malfunction.
I find this track actually a bit jazzy. Except for the hard drums which balances it out nicely. He have found the beautiful balance between the two "elements". Very smooth tune. 8½/10
I went all "WHAT THE." when I heard the beginning of this track. I can definitely see the insanity coming in because of this tune. A hard track but with that synth in the background it softens it up a little bit, which in my opinion is a great move! 7½/10
3. Bring me to madness.
I actually thought that it was the same track when this one started, because of the intro but as it moves on it's not. The drum and bass gave this tune a nice touch. Also, that voice is godly. This is simply a wicked tune. 9/10
4. Game over (VIP remix).
Digging this tune a lot. The synth is very very good. This tune is great but I don't it fits in on the EP. 8/10, could easily a 9 if I would just review this specific tune and not the whole EP.
Big up Whyrez! It was easily worth the price I payed for this EP. It's definitely be on my iPod for a long time!

I'm not a huge fan of drum and bass, but I like the ones that are really relaxing. In my opinion, B-Complex track Winter is the best example. Especially now when the temperature is sinking, the frost on the grass, small clouds come out of your mouth when you breath. The air is cold and clean and the sky is clear.

Wow, this is just a sick remix. The timing with the singing is just perfect. I'm not usually into d'n'b remixes but this one is a killer. At first I was like all what is this, but when the track moves on it's just sick. To be honest, not much makes my head nod this much!
Big up Storm, HARD track
This track was in my inbox yesterday, with a little message: " Check out my new video for the song 'The Cycle' and also make sure you buy 'The Chronicles of Esstar' E.P from iTunes! ". Interesting tune but I don't know if it's a great video but it's okay! Hard track, very in your face but that's what Esstar does best!
Also, stick to the rapping Esstar, 'cause you're very very good at it!

Hey, what's up mate? Tell me your age, where you're from and etc.
Hey. Im 18 and im from east london. Ive been producing for about 4 years now, but only really started doing it properly in 2009.
What's your view on the "traditional"(like Dehydrated) vs. the newer, calmer tunes(like Forbidden). Is wobble really necessary in dubstep in your opinion?
Well personally i prefer the newer calmer tunes. I think people have lost the appreciation of the 'dub' in dubstep. I enjoy the atmospheric, emotive tunes. A good dubstep tune doesnt need a Wobble... Look at Burial!
Yeah, Burial is a great example! You've done some nice remixes, like Cheryl Coles 3 words which reached a nice view count of ~85.000 views of youtube! While other producers make remixes of dubstep tracks, you make them from other genres and styles. Why?
Lol yeah. Im still quite shocked that it got so many views. I think its more challenging making them from other styles because sometimes it pretty difficult changing it from genre to genre. Sometimes i can be listening to a song, and hear a dubstep remix, so i decide to make it.
People say you look like Wiley(which you do, but just a tiny bit), but jumping to a totally random question, are you into grime?
Haha. Thats an arguable statement. But yeah i definitely like Grime. It emerged from Bow E3, which is just down the road from me, so i grew up with it. It will always have a place in my heart. Grime was beginning to fall flat on its face, But it seems to be reviving. Im really happy to see collaborations such as Skepta and P Diddy! Never thought i would see the day.
How did you get into dubstep and producing your own music? Did you make your own tunes first or did you begin making remixes?
Umm, well i begun making Grime music originally, and ive moved through many genres to get where i am. I started producing dubstep about a year ago now, roughly the same time i started remixing. I didnt really like most of my old tunes so i scrapped them and came with a new style. Hopefully i can keep progressing, and become a recognisable name in dubstep.
That would be it! Thanks for your time!
Thanks alot for the interview... Much appreciated :)

New promo remix from Sir Mic! When I heard this tune at first I thought "What have Sir Mic done this time", and then he started to rap. Awesome. It's nice to see him keeping up the tradition with guitar solos in his tunes, good choice.
Good warm up to his upcoming Mini Me Mixtape Volume 3, which I'm defiantly looking forward to!

Hey everyone. Sorry that I didn't post yesterday, I had a lot of homework! Oh well, moving on to the song. It's a song that's sung on Finnish. To be honest, I dislike most of the songs that are being sung on Finnish but this one is good. Might not be in everyones taste, but please give it a try! But wow, at ~1.35 when the beatbox kicks in.

Supp Man? , I'm not bad , just started my first week at sixth form/College just trying to get settled in and that to be honest bro.
Cool. What have happened since our interview?
Well , I have been Granted a Youtube partnership which basically means , I'm near the top of the youtube hierarchy and get promoted by them alot more and features , also i get paid by Google for advertisement on my videos and that was a target i wanted to reach and i did so I'm pretty happy about that.
I've only recently started school again as i was in summer holidays , so i have been making ALOT of new music , mainly hiphop beats , i had a productive few weeks where i was making and releasing a new beat everyday. " Goodbye " & " In the Night " are my favorites.
You were on the radio with Fixxa a couple of days ago, tell me about it!
As for radio yeah i was played on "Dubstep Fm" the other night and also got My song with Fixxa "Candy Remix " played , it went down really well. Hopefully I'll be getting played on radio more as that's one of my newer targets.
Got any new stuff coming up?
New Stuff ? Haha , i've always got stuff coming out , i'm a very secretive person , i prefer to work on stuff rather than to be one of those people who talk about it and don't do it.
But i'll let you into my newest project , Myself & Esstar have been working very hard on a Hiphop Album to be released in the winter , it's got a mad vibe to it , pretty dark , I recently finished Producing all the beats to it the other day with him , so we went for a celebration drive down to Cake's N Shakes :)
Nice! Got any shout outs to your fans?
I Want to shout out to everyone supporting me it means alot.

I was surprised when I heard this track the first time. I dislike to use the term filthy or dirty when it comes to dubstep, but this is so filth/dirty and good. It's a long time since I've seen a good drop but this one is a epic drop.
Killer tune. Also, check out his artwork here!

New Fable, always nice to see. I like his voice, it's a bit dark and negative. Yeah sure, a lot of rap is like that, but his voice is special! Also the way how he incorporates the piano is excellent. Good feature from KY, too.
Watch out for this guy, he is gonna be something.

Found this track a couple of days ago. It's killer, in my opinion. I'm not into "filthy" dubstep but this is deffo a good tune. I like how to the video works with the track, kinda like Benga & Coki's "Night". I don't usually watch the video but I did watch this one.

Hey mate, how are ya? First I gotta say that I've been listening a lot to of your music the latest week and I must say I'm impressed.
Thank you im all good i appreciate your taking time out to listen to my music right now my label limelight are working real hard on a couple things so your gonna see alot of artists coming with good music
Good, tell me something about you! Age etc.
Im just your average guy chasing a dream, working hard trying to chase it i love my football support tottenham hotspur so im all happy right now with my music and my team
Tell me about the song 'When you come home'! Deep track, what it's about?
You know what with all my tunes i always try to hide something behind it and always make a story so people can relate to it, basically its about all those family's having people they love at war and they want them to come, home they miss them etc and there are alot of politics goping on right now so i thought it would be a good time to release it
Also, you into dubstep? Feeling some dubstep in your tracks! Also do you got any new stuff coming up?
You know what one of my best mates showed me a station the other day of dubstep and it was bangin, its a good vibe and hopefully i can jump on a bit of dubstep soon, and on my latest mixtape start of the takeover track 8 is a bit dubstepish so check that out and look out for the cd
Cool, keep on making those tunes. You got some real great deep stuff! Big up to Itch! Thanks mate
